Do your kids have to sharpen pencils at inopportune times? Do they lose their pencils all the time? Do the pencils break or only sharpen on one side? I’ve struggled with all of these and am so happy to share with you a giveaway for a fantastic pencil sharpener and a freebie pencil management plan! (Ok, it did feel weird typing out “pencil management system” – really??! But, isn’t it true that we need one! LOL!)
First, I have a terrific giveaway by Troy at Classroom Friendly Supplies. Troy is a teacher and the owner of Classroom Friendly Supplies which sells the “Quietest Classroom Pencil Sharpener”. I’ve seen reviews of these sharpeners and everyone raves about them. Your can win a pencil sharpener and try it out for yourself! Check out the links to visit the website and see all the pictures of super-sharp and evenly sharpened pencils.
The entry form is at the end of this post. It’s easy to enter – just like 2 pages on facebook!
Requirements:
- Only open to those with a US mailing address
- You must have a facebook account to enter (if you don’t, I post about many other giveaways that don’t involve facebook and I have a monthly giveaway for all followers so there will be something available soon. Be sure to get the freebie linked below!
I also discovered a really neat freebie about a way to manage pencils in your classroom – Winning the Pencil War. It was created by the Wise Owl Teacher. Apparently many others have discovered this since it has been downloaded over 97,000 times! I’ve started working on implementing this system for this year and can’t wait to get started. I love plans that help the kids to become more responsible. It makes it easier for everyone!

The classroom supply that I find most difficult to organize is pocket charts. They are so hard to find space for. Ugh!
The classroom supplies I find most difficult is tape. Such an awkward shape…
Crafts and center games and activities!!!
It's hard to organize glue sticks, markers, and sanitizer!
Hard to organize – markers (fresh ones from older ones, etc.) susanlulu@yahoo.com
I struggle with center work/stations,
all the wonderful crafty stuff
First day supplies because there is so much, and it has to be sorted. Some we keep, some we store, and others are pooled.
Keeping books organized is the most difficult for me. My read aloud books I keep in alphabetical order by title so I can easily locate them, but the kids' books are organized by reading levels, theme, etc. dbednarsk@yahoo.com
My library has always been hard to keep organized, but this year I'm going with baskets and labels with the hope that it will be much better!
I find it really hard to organize all my word worksupplies and math manipulatives. I have tried over the years to improve it, but have not succeeded:(Debbiedebjac9@aol.com
crayons..they are always everywhere
The basic supplies are difficult to organize (pencils, crayons, glue sticks, etc.) for me.
My puzzles! No matter what I put them in, they always seem to end up missing pieces!
I find it very hard to organize things that I don't have a lot of such as pom poms, glitter glue, paint. They all just get jumbled together.
Handouts. Even When you are dealing with adults keeping the handouts in order can be a pain, if you need to reuse them.
All my games/center materials. Sometimes there are so many little pieces that get mixed up even though I know my kids are trying. I label everything and try my best, but I always seem to be going through things to reorganize.
Game pieces-especially from centers that I have copied, printed, laminated, cut out and put out. The pieces go missing and then I feel like I need to print out a new set or I will find a piece and I am not sure which game it goes to. It is a never ending battle.
Refiling papers. I'm a stacker. By December I have stacks of paper everywhere.
The paper stack I have for all the kids to use that don't have paper is the worst thing or organize. It never stays neat.
all the paperwork
I have a hard time organizing all my posters and anchor charts.
Games, they never get back to the nice neat stacks I put them in.
Craft supplies are difficult to organize!
First day supplies are hard to organize!! I have 27 in my class…and lots of supplies come piling in the first day.
Things I need to grade are the hardest to keep organized. They end up in just a big pile on my desk! DanielleGrowing Special Seeds
All of the supplies sent on the first day. In kindergarten it can be overwhelming.Lindsey
Classroom craft supplies
Storing puzzles. Many of the ones with large shapes or pegs just don't fit or stack. Pieces get lost and they seem hard for some students to put away. Its been driving me nuts all year!
File folder games!
I think storing center activities is difficult, especially since I tend to change up how I do centers every year based on what worked/didn't work before. I'm hoping this year to get a better handle on it. 🙂 stockto2276@gmail.com
student desks are always hard to keep organized
I am terrible at organizing my posters!
I have a hard time keeping my guided reading area organized with all the books/manipulatives for different groups along with running record and guided reading lessons! I'm always a mess in the area of the room and can't ever find what I need!
I find it difficult to keep my centers organized. I never take the time in class to make sure they are put up properly.:) Pam kitpamtaylor@gmail.com
I am terrible at refiling paper after I pull them out of my filing cabinets. I always have a huge pile of papers to be filed.Samjbsothornton@comcast.net
My downfall with organization is with craft supplies!
I also have trouble storing the large size construction paper.
I struggle with storing my center activities. That's my goal for this school year!Gracegracepruim@gmail.com
Large size construction paper and posters seem to be what I see as difficult in many classrooms I work in. Thanks for the opportunity to win! 🙂
Construction paper, it is so hard to keep it separated and organized. By the middle of the year I end up giving up on it. Hopefully I can figure something out this year. 🙂
I find it difficult to organize my math games, centers, manipulatives. dbednarsk@yahoo.com
Homework and scissors seem to be the bane of my existence. Homework has been notoriously hard to manage. I'm going to try out a new system this year. Scissors disappear into desks and are amazingly difficult to find when you need them.
Glue sticks-they always are sticky and gunky!
Classroom craft supplies for projects
Construction paper and magazines drive me crazy! Definitely need better organization there.TinaFlamingos and Butterflies
Construction paper, especially the large size, is really hard to keep organized and sorted!
Posters are the worst. I think it has to do with our space/storage limitations. I would love to win! I have given much thought to investing in one of these. I would even share with my teaching neighbors. :)Cynthia
it's always difficult to organize glue, colored paper, scissors, tape, etc. katie.neustadter@gmail.com
Late homework. I tell them where to turn it in, but they still try to “sneak” it into the middle of the stack — and they end up putting the homework into the wrong pile! Then I get a letter from the parent that I lost their child's homework because they KNOW it was turned in… Funny, I didn't see them in my classroom when it was supposedly “turned in”…much more like “snuk in!”. Ha ha ha!
Everything, since I have no built in storage
Keeping the construction paper neat and organizes!
Glue, glue sticks, tape…they need to be easily accessible, but I don't want them stored in desks. Definitely hard!
All my educational games I have made are hard to organize – Cindyccfirstteacher@gmail.com
The classroom supply I find difficult to organize is folder games.
